Trypophobia

I have it. It is the fear of random little holes or dots. I've always had it, I just didn't know it had a name. Little holes remind me of worms, warts, zits, zombies, bugs, the Bubonic plague, spiders, fly eyeballs, just gross thigns. Pokadots do not bother me because they are in a distinct pattern.

I made the mistake last year of telling my students about this phobia. It did actually pertain to a literature lesson I was teaching, but bad move. Look what greeted me this year, in fact, yesterday in my desk.

It's a sign of love really, or so I think. My students will drawn dots or circles on my board when my back is turned, and I also get pieces of notebook paper with holes punched in them taped to my car window. High Schoolers.

Boy + Music + Rain

We had to hide under the blanket for a lot of the concert because of the pouring rain.

I took the boy I'm dating up to see the Mormon Tabernale Choir and Utah Symphony  @ the Deer Valley Music Festival (I had free tickets). It kinda sounds like a grandma-grandpa type date, but it was a lot of fun. The Deer Valley Resort has wonderful atmosphere, the venu is right where the bunny slope would be. I actually think it was quite romantic - the mountains, the music, even the rain.

It actually rained quite a bit of the time and we just had one blanket and no jackets, but it made for a fun summer memory. We laughed at the thought of people thinking we were funny hiding under the blanket up in the back row. We peaked out and watched the couples around us, cheering them on if they finally kissed each other after hours of the concert because it was just too pretty of a setting not to sneak a kiss.

Sometimes when things go wrong they end up being a lot more fun than if everything had gone just right. I think the rain made it a lot more fun. :)

It is Never too late

Draper, LDS Temple
A few weeks ago a former student of mine was sealed in the Draper, LDS temple. This was the first sealing of a family that I attended, and it was a really special, sacred experience.

As I watched the sealing, I was reminded that all of God's greatest blessings are avaliable to each of us, regardless of whether we have gotten off of the path for a time.

I was so proud and excited for this former student, her husband, and small child. What a wonderful blessing for them to be sealed as an eternal family, and have all of the blessings and protections avaliable to them.

As I watched, I was reminded of Elder Jeffery R. Holland's talk from April 2012 General Conference where he said:

Whether you are not yet of our faith or were with us once and have not remained, there is nothing in either case that you have done that cannot be undone. There is no problem which you cannot overcome. There is no dream that in the unfolding of time and eternity cannot yet be realized. Even if you feel you are the lost and last laborer of the eleventh hour, the Lord of the vineyard still stands beckoning, "Come boldly [to] the throne of grace," and fall at the feet of the Holy One of Israel. Come and feast "without money and without price" at the table of the Lord.
- Elder Jeffery R. Holland
I have such a testimony of the atoning power of the gospel, and the Lord's desire to give each of us all that He hath. Attending this sealing was a powerful reminder to use that power of repentance and rebirth in my own life.
