McCain chose Sarah Palin, what do we think? It is going to be so completely fascinating to see how this election will turn out! The media is already all over the fact that she is a mother of 5, the youngest with Downs Syndrome and whether she will have the remaining emotional energy to be a VP. AND they are making a huge deal over the fact her 17 year old daughter is prego. Huh, I don't really know enough about her at this point to make a huge judgement, but it is just so interesting! You could take this a million ways and I am sure the media will. Did he choose a woman to play the woman card? Are we automatically assuming she would do a worse job than Hillary would have just because she has five kids and a pregnant daughter? The whole woman in politics thing is just so intriguing. Will this cost McCain the presidency or gain it for him? Will she take some of Hillary's former votes because she is a woman? What is sexier for America, a black president or an old white guy with a woman for VP? Interesting, fascinating, intriquing politics! Sarah Palin's daughter has a Republican mother, she couldn't poltically have an abortion, could she?

I was thinking the same thing about stealing the woman votes. My mother-in-law is so into this and said she is for immediate access to the oil in Alaska, which directly affects most Americans with gas prices. So that could be incentive also. Crazy stuff!
It'll be interesting to see how her speech goes tonight. There have been a lot of different reactions up here in Anchorage. I have to say, though, more than anything I've just heard indifferent responses. People up here (at least the people I'm working with) seem to just want to go about their business and ignore it. Although people up here have really gotten into the local elections. How do those match up?
I am just wondering why people care so much about who the VP is. Has the VP ever done anything? So her 17 year old daughter got pregnant. My sister got pregnant out of wedlock, and I'm pretty sure my mother had absolutely nothing to do with that. A parent can only have so much influence on a child. I know plenty of people who are awesome parents, but their children have made choices different than what they were taught. And LBH, all of the right wing Christian folks' teenagers are having sex because, afterall, they've been saved by grace and once that happens you can do pretty much whatever you want to do and you're still good.
As for the woman thing... I don't know how many women would actually vote for someone based on gender. Any woman who would have voted for Hillary wouldn't vote for John McCain just because he has a female running mate. Those kind of women are for abortion and stem cell research, bra burning and ball busting. I really think women voters should be given more credit.
Somone today said she looks like a Lens Crafter commercial and I couldn't help laughing! :D

BTW - I have always thought that if you wear glasses, that you should be keeping your earrings small and not dangly. Maybe they do it differently in Alaska.
